This is a commemorative pencil made by the Eagle Pencil Company of Canada on the occasion of King George VI coronation. It has "Eagle, Made in Canada, No. 1937" printed at the top.
Their Majesties' Visit to Canada 1939
In the Spring of 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth conducted a train tour of Canada. Venus, Eagle and Dixon all manufactured souvenir pencils in celebration of this event.
Royal Visit to Canada 1951
Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, undertook a coast-to-coast tour of Canada in the fall of 1951. The visit took started on Oct. 8, 1951 and ended on Nov. 12, 1951. Shortly after this visit, she would ascend to the throne and be Queen.
Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II 1953
This pencil is very similar to the King George VI pencil above. It has "Eagle, Made in Canada, No. 1953" printed at the top. This pencil came in both silver and gold versions. I wonder if they were sold individually or in a set?
Canadian Centennial 1967
The Canadian Centennial was a yearlong celebration held in 1967 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. July 1st is the anniversary of The British North America Act which created Canada. The pencils below were made by Venus Pencil Co. and were made in four different colors: white, gold, light green and red.
