Ink Blotters - Part 2

Stationery companies often gave out ink blotters which contain advertisements for products they sold. Some these advertisements are for pencils. I have shared some photos of ink blotters in the past. Below are three ink blotters from the Hay Stationery Company of London, Ontario.

Eagle Mirado ink blotter (3 3/8" x 6 1/8")

Eagle Verithin ink blotter (3 3/8" x 6 1/8")

Venus Super Color ink blotter (5 3/4" x 3 1/4")

The Hay Stationery Company was at 331 Richmond Street in London, Ontario in the early 1950s. I found a postcard printed by the company from 1939. It appears that this company was around until the early 2000s when they closed.

Hi, Erick, your brother shared your site with me. I love the inkblot adverts. They remind me of the old Guinness adverts withe the toucan.

I'm a writer and would love to hear your thoughts on current writing implements, both pencils and pens. It would be cool if you can review them in comparison to the vintage pencils you've come across. I'm always looking for quality pens and pencils for rough drafts. Thanks for the kind words. Here are my current favourite writing tools:
For note taking I use a General's Cedar Pointe #2. A fantastic pencil with an equally good eraser and still made in the US. https://www.generalpencil.com/store/p36/CedarPointe.html
For doing mathematics I typically use a vintage Venus Velvet pencils. They have long point retention but still write incredibly smoothly. A good modern day equivalent is the Tombow Mono 100. https://www.tombow.com/en/products/mono100/
For a journal I use a Baron Fig Vanguard notebook with dot-grid paper https://baronfig.com/accessories/vanguard-softcover-notebook?size=flagship+%285.4%22+x+7.7%22%29&color=charcoal&paper+type=dot+grid
I typically use wooden pencils but when I reach for a mechanical pencil I use a Rotring 600. https://www.rotring.com/pens-pencils/pencils/rotring-600-mechanical-pencil-1/SAP_1904442.html
